1. How is your work significant or meaningful to the world beyond school and your specific internship site?
The work I do at internship is meaningful because it is teaching me all aspects of running my own art business. From being able to do the actual art to have to clean up the mess that people leave behind. I am making sure that the studio is organized and clean on the daily so when I leave the studio ill stay organized and it will be easier to find things. 2. What are you learning about your own work from your internship project? I learning a lot about sculpting. My project is to make a sculpture, so I am getting to learn how to use different tool, and how to turn a block of clay into a beautiful sculpture. 3. How is your view of life beyond high school changing or developing during your time as an intern? I can see myself running a business like the one I'm interning at. I want to be able to have a space for people with all different types of artistic ability's to explore their creativity. 4. What new appreciations are you developing while working as an intern? Why? I am appreciating being surrounded by people a lot more than I used to. Due to the unusual hours of the studio I spend a lot of time alone. It has made me realize i think to be around people even if I don't know them well, I like the company. 5. What qualities or characteristics do you see in the people around you that you want to develop in yourself? Why? My mentor is very outgoing and able to talk to many people, well she has to since she runs a business, but I want to learn how to be more outgoing. She is also very assertive, she knows what to do and how to tell people to do it. I need to learn how to be able to speak up instead of sitting back and watching stuff happen. 1. What are you learning about yourself as a worker in a professional environment?
I am a lot more responsible and useful than I originally thought. Going into internship I was scared I was going to be more of a problem than a help, and I am the opposite. 2. What are your strengths? I am a quick learner, and when I am told to do something or get it done I do it. 3. What do you enjoy most about your work? I like the environment of my workplace. Everyone is extremely nice and the customers that come in are always nice to. It's a very Zen environment, it's not chaotic at all. Everyone's calm and respectful. 4. What do you dislike about your work experience? This doesn’t necessarily mean you dislike your work; however, maybe you are learning that you prefer to be active or like office work. We want you to identify types of work that you enjoy with the hope that this helps you identify jobs that may be a strong fit for you. I have been able to experience two different classes with two different mentors. I like them both, but I had more fun with one more than the other. I like an environment that is relaxing but fun. I like being able to chat and get work done at the same time. I understand why one mentor prefers it quite, but I don't know if I would want it quite all the time. That being said I still like both classes equally. 5. What areas of your work do you want to continue to improve? I want to get better at believing I can do something. I tend to be very negative about my own artistic skills and I want to stop that and start being more open minded. 1. What are you doing/creating for your project?
I get to make a sculpture for my project. My mentor is going to teach me what to do, she'll introduce me to different tool, and help me make a beautiful sculpture. I also made a tik tok account that tracks what I do daily around the studio. 2. What skills do you need in order for it to meet/exceed your mentor’s expectations? I don't need specific skill for this project. It helps if you are more artistic, which I am, but I don't need to be. 3. What support will you need and from whom? I need my mentors support with my sculpture. I need her to help me when I need it, and guide me to be able to make the sculpture because I have never sculpted before. 1. What strikes you most about your workplace?
What strikes me most is how many people come in to sculpt. I don't know why I thought there were not going to be that many people, but I was happily mistaken. 2. What strikes you most about your colleagues? My colleagues are extremely nice and professional nothing really struck me about them. 3. What strikes you most about the job you're doing? Sculpting is a lot harder than I thought it was going to be. 4. What are you looking forward to during your Internship? I'm looking forward to finishing my piece and organizing the studio. 5. What wonderings do you have about your role and/or your workplace? This isn't really a wondering but I want to be able to not have to constantly ask what to do. I want to be able to know exactly what to do and when. |
